AFI-Uplift expands fleet

AFI-Uplift has ordered around 800 machines valued at £12 million, to expand its powered access fleet to more than 4,000 units.

The majority of new machines will be small electric platforms including Pop Up push around lifts. By summer, the company will have taken devlivery of almost half of the new units, including Pop Ups, Haulotte Star 6 and Star 10s, Genie IWPs and Genie GR15s.

AFI is also expanding its depot network, with a new location in Scotland scheduled for the first half of 2007. It is also relocating some of its existing depots to larger premises and increasing its transport fleet by 20 vehicles and eight trailers.

"There has been a significant rise in demand for small units driven by the Work At Height Regulations and by the Health and Safety Executive which is taking a more active interest in the internal fitting out stage of construction projects," said director Nick Selley. "The PopUp machines will take us into new areas of the market."
