First 26m Hinowas for Advanced
UK rental company Advanced Access Platforms has taken delivery of two 26 metre Hinowa Bi-Energy/Hybrid Lightlift 26.14 Performance IIIS spider lifts.
The new machines, part of Advanced’s environmental strategy, were supplied through the Hinowa UK dealer APS (Access Platform Sales). They feature two power sources, a Stage V Kubota diesel alongside electric motor drive and Hinowa’s well proven lithium battery pack. They will be based at Advanced’s ‘Eco Depot’ in Canning Town, East London.

The Hinowa Lightlift 26.14 offers a maximum working height of 25.7 metres, and an outreach of up to 13.7 metre, at an up & over height of 10 metres, with an unrestricted lift capacity of 230kg. Overall transport width is 990mm, telescoping out to 1.49 metres for additional stability on site. Total weight 4,384kg.
The LL26.14 can be operated on the battery pack for almost silent fume free operation, or on full diesel power. Operators can also use the slightly faster drive speed of the diesel power unit to travel to the work area, and then switch to battery power for the boom functions. The batteries are also topped up when the diesel engine is running and can be charged from empty to 80 percent in two hours.
Advanced Platforms director John Corcoran said: “We are responding to our customers’ needs. They want spider lifts because construction projects are getting taller while sites are more constrained. At the same time, there is growing demand, through initiatives like the London Low Emission Zone, from our customers and their clients to provide working at height solutions that minimise carbon footprints.”

“The Hinowa is the best spider lift on the market. They are pushing ahead with electric and bi-energy technology, so they are the platforms we want. On top of that, APS’s after sales service is excellent.”
APS major accounts manager Linda Betts said: “Advanced Platforms is at the forefront of what we see will be a working at height revolution, as operators switch to electric power. We are delighted that John and his team share our vision for providing cleaner, more sustainable service with no compromise on performance. We are also pleased that they already have customers who want to take these platforms on long term hire. It reflects the growing need for our spider platforms in the rental market and the confidence there is in their capabilities.”
The investment is part of a £5 million hybrid/battery powered expansion spend this year by Advanced. By the end of the year Advanced will have 729 hybrid or electric platforms in its fleet out of a total of 1,182 units.
