Belgian international crane and heavy lift company Sarens has taken delivery of a 1,000 tonne Liebherr LR 11000 lattice boom crawler crane.

The LR 11000 was ordered with Liebherr’s SL10DF2BV wind power boom system, with a 168 metre main boom and fixed offset jib of up to 24 metres providing hook heights up to 192 metres with a capacity of 110 tonnes. It also features the company's VarioTray and V-Frame ballast systems.

Saren’s new LR 11000 went straight to work on the Oostpolder wind farm

The crane’s first job was erecting 4.65MW Enercon E-136 EP5 wind turbines at Oostpolder wind farm on the north coast of the Netherlands. Configured with 162 metres of main boom and a 12 metre jib, the crane was required to lift wind turbine components weighing up to 120 tonnes to hub heights of 155 metres.

Liebherr’s hydraulic V-Frame can extend the ballast out up to 30 metres

Sarens project manager, Pascal van der Spoel, said: “We decided to purchase the LR 11000 because it has a very flexible derrick system with VarioTray and V-frame. What’s more, its boom length and capacity are ideal for the projects we have scheduled.”
