The dangers of working above

A man using an aerial lift over a busy road in Orlando, Florida yesterday evening knocked a pile of large 2”x4” metal bushes over one of which fell six or seven metres into the traffic, crashing through a cars windscreen and landing in the front passengers lap.

The incident occurred around 5:30 on State Road 408, the platform operator was working for a subcontractor of the general contractor - PCL Civil Constructors.

The passenger was treated for "minor cuts" caused by broken glass; The Florida Department of Transportation confirmed that contractors are not supposed to operate machines above traffic.
