Hiab to expand US production

Hiab has received three large orders with a combined value of €12.9 million for Moffett truck mounted forklifts and Hiab loader cranes in the USA.

The orders came from two national builders' supply companies, one of which ordered Moffett truck mounted forklifts totalling €7.5 million, while the other placed an order of €3.7 million for higher capacity Hiab loader cranes. In addition, a liquified gas distributor is spending €1.7 million on Hiab X-HiDuo 072 and X-HiDuo 082 loader cranes from the manufacturer’s light range.

Jani Koskinen, senior manager strategic accounts, said: “Bulky and hazardous but essential energy items alike can be delivered safely and efficiently with Hiab’s equipment. We are very pleased that some of the largest names in their industries have put their faith in Hiab to deliver on their promises to their customers.”

At the same time Hiab has announced that it is setting up a second production facility for truck mounted forklifts at its Waltco tail lift plant in Streetsboro, Ohio, and adding to production capacity at its primary plant in Dundalk, Ireland.

Hiab vice president sales & services, North America, James Oreck, added: “With the increased demand for our truck mounted forklift products in the US, we are extremely excited to start manufacturing here in Ohio. This will allow us to provide reduced lead times to our customers, additional capacity for growth, and reduce Co2 emissions associated with transportation.”
