New CEO for Hy-Brid

Custom Equipment has appointed Jay Sugar as chief executive of Hy-Brid Lifts.

Sugar joins the company from Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, where he spent two years as parish relations coordinator, responsible for more than 190 parishes. After graduating in mechanical engineering and accountancy he started a career in the power generation and supply industry. By 1996 he was vice president of operations for Generac Power Systems moving to vice president of industrial sales after four years. He left the company in 2006 for a short stint as general manager of accountancy firm Weiler & Company (now WCO Chartered Professional Accountants).

The following year in 2007 he joined Northshore Power System as vice president of operations, before becoming general manager of Westpro Power Systems in 2011. In 2016 he was appointed as general manager of manufacturer Cubic Designs/MiTek Mezzanine Systems, leaving the business in 2019 for Catholic Charities. He also helped Custom/Hy-Brid implement a new plant layout at the comapny's facility in Richfield, Wisconsin, in the interim.

Jay is an accomplished leader and with his background in both engineering and operations, Jay brings a wide skill set to drive Custom Equipment forward in value creation and performance.”

Sugar added: “I’m looking forward to working with the strong leadership team at Custom Equipment again to help position the company for future growth. Strategically expanding our product offerings and introducing new products will reinforce our commitment to implementing customer feedback and increase market share.”
