Fatal crush incident

A man has died when he was trapped between a steel beam in the roof area and the guardrail of the platform he was working from in Suriname, South America.

The man, named as Henk Daniël, 56, took the platform up during a lunch break and at a height of around seven metres he became trapped against the beam, but was apparently unable to release the controller. The platform cut out and sounded an alarm which alerted others to come to his aid. But by the time they managed to reach him it was too late.
He was declared dead when the emergency services arrived on site. The incident occurred on July 22nd, at an industrial site in Meerzorg, south of the river from the capital Paramaribo.

We have no information on what type of platform was in use, or what work he was carrying out, one report said that he was using the machine while the man who had been using it all morning was taking his lunch. If we learn more, we will update this item.
