New Vanson hydraulic luffer

Vanson Cranes has launched the LCL 20.1 hydraulic luffing tower crane claimed to be the smallest crane of its type currently on the market. Operated via a hand-held radio remote control, the unit has a maximum jib length of 20 metres with a lift capacity of 1,000kg at 20 metre radius or 3500kg at a 3 metre radius.

Vanson Cranes' new LCL 20.1 hydraulic luffing tower crane

The company says that its compact design and luffing jib action make it ideal for working on congested city centre and urban redevelopment areas where over-sailing adjacent airspace is a problem.

The new crane uses a hydraulic luffing system which is thought to be safer in operation whilst being more efficient and reliable than ropes. And by utilising a safety mechanism in the ram, the system is able to lock-off in the event of a hydraulic fault occurring.
Vanson has also incorporated inverter drive systems on all of the crane’s motions to provide operators with smooth operation. The use of this soft start system is able to control the steps between motor speeds thereby creating a very smooth action which reduces the wear and tear on components.

The LCL 20.1 can be mounted onto a tower system or used on its own feet on a concrete base at ground level. Alternatively it can be either bolted onto steelwork or ballasted down on a base cross on the top of a building. It is erected on site using a mobile crane.

The radio control unit incorporates BS compliant safe load indicators as standard giving the crane driver all the information required including data relating to wind speed, radius, actual load and maximum permitted load at the set radius.

The company has also launched the latest version of its VC33 Self Erecting Tower Crane
