Crane operator rescued

A tower crane operator was trapped in his cab on a job site in Charlotte, North Carolina earlier today as a fire raged through the building below.

Once the firefighters learnt of the operator’s predicament they sprung into action and managed to bring him down safely just over an hour later.

The crane was sent up on a two building project in the SouthPark area of the city and at times was engulfed in thick smoke while a fierce fire raged directly below. The man’s wife arrived on site while the firemen were attempting to reach the crane cab as they doused the area with water. The operator was taken to hopsital suffering from smoke inhalation and non life threatening injuries.

The flat top crane was, we are told, owned by Heede and was working on the mixed use and residential development for Mill Creek.
