250t Liebherr for Stoddart

Scottish rental company Stoddart Crane Hire has taken delivery of a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM1230-5.1 - its largest Liebherr crane to date.

The company acquired its first new Liebherr - a 60 tonne LTM 1060-3.1- in 2016 and has since added several others ranging from 40 to 90 tonnes. Its fleet also includes a number Grove cranes up to 250 tonnes and a 130 tonne Tadano.

Stoddart’s 230t Liebherr LTM1230-5.1

The five axle crane is equipped with an eight section 75 metre main boom, and can be topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that can be offset by up to 40 degrees. Up to three, seven metre inserts can also be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a maximum tip height of 113 metres (with main boom at 68 metres).
The new crane also includes Vario Ballast variable counterweight, Vario Base Plus outrigger set up and monitoring and remote control of crane operations. Under UK STGO rules the single engine crane can carry 22 tonnes of its maximum 72 tonnes of counterweight.
