JLG introduces new SkyTrak telehandlers

JLG has started the process of redesigning its North American SkyTrak telehandler line, featuring new structural elements, reworked functionality, new technology and improved serviceability.

The first machines to be launched will be the 6,000lbs/2,700kg capacity 6034 and 6042 models with lift heights of 34ft/10.4m and 42ft/12.8m respectively. Forward reach is 23ft/7m and 29ft/8.8m.

The 6034 telehandler replaces the 6036 model, while the 6042 has been updated from the current machine with new features. The units are also lighter at 14,500lbs/6,600kg and 19,100lbs/8,660kg with an ‘optimised’ frame structure allowing three 6034s or two 6042s to be hauled on a single flatbed trailer. In fact, the 6034 model is light enough that it can even be transported with a standard pickup truck and trailer in North America.

The new models can be ordered with an enclosed cab and air conditioning, with single joystick electric over hydraulic controls, with the auxiliary hydraulic function and attachment tilt built into the joystick for improved productivity. They also feature a new advanced control system that allows for more options, such as load stability indication (LSI), seatbelt engagement and operator presence, along with improved diagnostics. The new cab design features a larger LCD display with larger, single-page load charts for added convenience. Power comes from a Deutz diesel that doesn't require exhaust fluid, driving a hydrostatic transmission.

Options include multi-reverse camera system which displays multiple views from behind the machine to the left, right and rear. This system can be used during the day and night, and it features four components: Left and right-side backup cameras, a rear backup camera and a tri-view monitor, along with reverse sensing system alerting operators to obstructions with an audible alarm, while a white noise backup alarm emits a directional alarm signal on the machine as it travels in reverse.

Service enhancements include a 30 percent reduction on hydraulic hoses and connections, and a top mounted telescopic cylinder.
