A man was critically injured in Lutz, on the north side of Tampa, Florida, yesterday when he came into contact with an overhead power line.
The man was pruning trees from the platform of a Niftylift TD 120T spider lift – or TD 34T as it is in the USA when he inadvertently touched the overhead power line with his chain saw.
When the emergency services arrived, they found the tracked boom lift in flames, and immediately secured the site. They then brought the stricken man down and after brief treatment at the scene he was airlifted to hospital, where he is reported to be in a critical condition.
