Lowe moves to HTC Plant

HTC Plant, owner of the UK’s second largest tower crane fleet, has announced the appointment of Alex Lowe as director/general manager. Lowe is moving from the position of director and general manager of Hewden Crane Hire.

HTC Plant was created last year when its owner, PC Harrington, bought Hewden Stuart’s tower crane division from parent company Finnings. Paul Phillips, the then general manager of Hewden’s tower crane division, moved to HTC Plant and will remain with the company after Lowe joins.

Lowe has been with the Hewden Stuart Group for about 25 years and brings with him extensive experience in both the tower and mobile crane sectors.

“Alex’s first class reputation in the industry is widely-acknowledged – we look forward to welcoming him on board and working with him to grow our business still further” said Andy Wood, director of HTC Plant.

Roger Quenby, group executive director of Rental Services at Hewden Stuart, said: “We are sorry to see Alex leave the group but we wish him and HTC every success for the future”.

Lowe will join HTC Plant “as soon as current commitments allow” said Wood adding that Paul Phillips has chosen to reduce his responsibilities for personal reasons. Phillips is in the process of relocating to an office in Cambridgeshire from where he will take up a new role as business development director for HTC Plant.

“Paul’s professionalism, expertise and dedication is greatly valued and appreciated. We are pleased that he will continue to play an active part in developing and managing the business for the foreseeable future” said Wood.

HTC Plant operates and supports approximately 200 conventional and luffing jib tower cranes. It is the sole agent for MAN Wolffkran cranes in the UK and Ireland and will shortly relocate to new facilities in Sheffield.
