JCB up 23%

JCB the world’s second largest producer of telescopic handlers has reported a 23 percent increase in full year revenues to £1.75 billion. Pre tax profits at the group, which is privately owned, jumped by 35 percent to £149 million. Around 20 percent of its sales now come from outside of the UK.

The company is projecting a 10 percent increase in sales for this year.

In releasing its key numbers JCB said that it expects to step up its engine production this year to 30,000 units virtually all of which will be used for its own production.

Last year around half of the 55,000 machines the company built were fitted with its own engines.
It is now stepping up its efforts to sell JCB engines to other manufacturers, including competitors.

JCB now claims to be the world’s third largest producer of construction equipment in terms of units built. However by all other measures, including revenues, the most commonly used comparison, JCB is sixth or seventh behind Caterpillar, Komatsu, Terex, Case-New Holland, John Deere and Liebherr
