Derrick crane incident

The boom of a derrick crane broke into two on a job site in Burnaby, Vancouver, Canada yesterday.

Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, but WorkSafeBC is investigating the details of what happened. The 61 storey high rise construction is being developed by Onni Group.”

Just an hour or two before a larger derrick crane can be seen removing a tower crane from the corner of the building, it seems that the smaller derrick lifted one of the final sections up through the building when its boom broke in two and went over the side, fortunately it was held in place by the hoist ropes and nothing fell to the ground. The road below was closed however as a precaution.
