Rail crane tips

Rail crane operator, Charles Willey 59 was killed instantly on Thursday when the crane he was operating fell sideways off the tracks near Gillette. Northern Wyoming, USA.

The crane was manufactured the Ohio & American Locomotive Crane Co at least 30 years ago.

The crane went over sideways


A spokesman for the railway company - BNSF Railway in Seattle said that Willey had been working with a pile driver on a main track that continues on to Alliance, Nebraska.

It seems that Wiley had been slewing the crane 18 metre boom at a low angle when the crane tipped. He died of “crush injuries”
