IPAF - The International Powered Access Federation - has released its Global Safety Report for incidents in 2023, in a digital only format.
The report examines the primary causes of major injuries and fatalities while using the various forms of powered access machinery, including aerial work platforms, mastclimbers and construction Hoists.
While among the very safest forms of work at height equipment, safety still depends on effective management and supervision, as well as a trained operator and well maintained equipment.
The release statement said: “IPAF works closely with its network of members, manufacturers, rental companies, distributors, contractors and users to identify emerging safety trends and challenges. Through data analysis and knowledge sharing, we drive targeted guidance and training initiatives to improve safety standards across the industry.”
“We encourage you to view the report at ipaf.org/gsr2024 and join us in promoting safety in the powered access industry. We welcome feedback and suggestions for future editions from our valued members. Please complete our Global Safety Report 2024 survey and for any additional queries, contact Brian Parker at [email protected]”
This year’s report is excellent - clean, clear and highly informative. It is stacked with information and data - all of which is readily accessible and very easy to digest - along with tips and useful safety information. It also shows trends over the past three and 10 years, for an easy comparison with 2023.
We would highly recommend that anyone who uses or owns aerial work platforms read or look at - it is very visual - the report. Hopefully it will also encourage more people to start reporting any incidents they are aware of to help add to future reports.
