Man electrocuted in Hampshire

A man has died after he was electrocuted while using a lorry loader to unload supplies on a Hampshire industrial estate today.

Witnesses said the 26-year-old man, who has not yet been named, had been using the lorry loader when the crane touched an overhead power cable.

Workers from nearby businesses rushed to the man's aid but it is thought he died instantly.

Rescue services were all called to the scene of the accident, off West Horton Lane in Fair Oak, shortly after 11.15am.

Around 500 properties in the area also had power supplies cut by provider Southern Electric to enable the emergency services to gain full access to the scene.

Investigators from the Health and Safety Executive are understood to be en route to help with the investigation into the death.
