Liebherr USA has opened a new crane spare parts warehouse in Kansas City. When fully completed the 1,200 square metre facility will stock around 5,000 line items for mobile and crawler cranes.
The company began setting up the facility earlier this year with the installation of the first bays of racking, followed by the arrival of the first inventory around a month later with 2,300 line items already available on the shelves. The Kansas City parts centre will serve as one of four satellite parts operations fed from the company’s US headquarters in Newport News, Virginia.
Customers, who can see the price and availability of parts in their local warehouse on the MyLiebherr portal, which also allows them to reach the local service contacts and download machine manuals.
Liebherr said that it had identified the need and potential benefit of having a warehouse in the Midwest, to look after the large number of its cranes installing wind turbines in the region. It says that having parts more readily available for same day delivery or collection will help reduce downtime and improve service for those working on time critical projects in the area.
Liebherr USA’s general manager for mobile/crawler crane customer service Arnold Burger said: “This significant investment in the expansion of the spare parts distribution network shows Liebherr’s further commitment to providing the best service to our customers in the Midwest.”
Spare parts business manager Anthony South added: “When people choose to expand their fleet with Liebherr, they deserve a strong partner that can provide them with reliable and efficient service when they’re in need.”
