Chinese crane and aerial lift manufacturer XCMG has started running new training courses in Jakarta, Indonesia with the aim of training 1,800 participants annually through 200 sessions for local service personnel, dealership staff and operators.
The Newton Education Centre, based in Marunda, will offer courses that combine lectures and practical experience which XCMG believes will help it tackle the global talent shortage within the company. Additionally, it aims to dramatically step up its aftermarket services in the region.
XCMG Indonesia general manager Kong Qingchao and Tanny Chen of Newton Education Centre have signed an agreement for a joint effort to educate an increasing number of interns, who on completing the training, will join various locations across Indonesia.
As of August, XCMG has begun manufacturing 15 products in Indonesia, including cranes, excavators and dump trucks, with the aim to build around 90 percent of the products it sells in the country locally. Its service operations in the country already employ around 300 staff, at 53 service stations with 36 service vehicles. The target is to reach the point where it can respond to customer inquiries within 15 minutes.
