New flagship for Schwerlast Weise

German rental company Schwerlast Weise has taken delivery of a 300 tonne Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 All Terrain crane and as the largest in its fleet it takes over as the new flagship, replacing a 250 tonne LTM 1250-5.1.

The six axle LTM 1300-6.3 features an eight section, 90 metre main boom topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension to which two seven metre inserts can be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a tip height of 121 metres. Alternatively, a 43 metre lattice extension takes the tip height to 126 metres.

Co-managing director Hermann Weise said: “With the LTM 1300-6.3 we have opted for a versatile, economical and unrivalled fast-erecting crane from Liebherr, and have done so on the background of what is currently a rather negative economic situation in Germany."

The crane was required for assembling larger tower cranes and working on the installation and removal of electricity pylons in the region. Its first task was to erect a tower crane from its own fleet at a site in Erfurt, with the boom extended to 69.2 metres and 68 tonnes of ballast.

Fellow managing director Walter Weise-Kahlert added: "The LTM 1300-6.3 has an extremely long boom at 90 metres. This has great advantages for the assembly and dismantling of tower cranes as well as pylons, eliminating the need to transport and assemble jibs or lattice extensions. So, we save time and money. The crane's operator and our tower crane crews are very satisfied and impressed with the crane after its first use and are already looking forward to new tasks and projects with this piece of equipment."

Founded in September 1990 by Hermann Weise, the company initially operated as a pure mobile crane rental business. Over time, it expanded its services to include tower cranes, loader cranes, industrial removals and machinery transport. Based in Hermsdorfer Kreuz, central Germany (south west of Leipzig), the company now employs 60 people and operates a fleet consisting of 22 mobile cranes, 100 tower cranes and eight truck mounted cranes.
