New CEO for Uperio USA

French International tower crane rental group Uperio has appointed Ingo Schiller as president of its North American business.

In his new role he will be responsible for strengthening the company’s market position in North America, expanding and adding to its strategic partnerships, and developing new solutions for its customers.

Schiller joined the company late last year from Netarus owned HoistCam where was acting as chief executive. Since leaving Tadano at the start of 2023, Schiller has worked as an advisor and consultant for a number of companies, including Maeda America, Dica outrigger mats, BroadRange Logistics, and tracking company RibIot.

Uperio is the Zoomlion tower crane distributor for North America along with Arcomet self-erecting cranes. Uperio acquired P&J Arcomet in 2021 which is also a Terex / Comedil distributor and rebranded as Uperio USA shortly thereafter. The company has distribution centres located in Washington DC, Dallas-Texas, Atlanta-Georgia and Miami - Florida.

Schiller comes from a crane family and had his first taste of the of the industry working on crane repairs in the late 1980s. However, in 1990 went to work as a manufacturing engineer with Canon in Virginia, leaving for the family firm - Liebherr distributor Schiller Service Corp - two years later. When Liebherr took over the Schiller business in 2004, he was appointed executive vice president of sales for the German manufacturer. Three years later he accepted a position with Manitowoc, as vice president of sales, and later senior vice president of global marketing and product development. He then headed the Crane Care division for a while, before taking over the boom truck, Rough Terrain, Industrial and Military crane product lines.

In 2016 he left Manitowoc and was quickly ‘snapped up’ by Tadano, initially as an executive vice president, becoming chief executive of the American business the following year. Aside from his regular duties he has held volunteer leadership positions with the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
