A tower crane came down on a new residential block in Rome last week, thankfully no one was hurt.
The incident occurred on a new build in the via Giana Anguissola which runs along the southern edge of the Tenuta di Tormarancia park in southern Rome. The crane came down last Tuesday, January 28th, the authorities believe that the incident was caused by the strong overnight winds in the area. It looks as though the jib was blown over the back of the crane causing it to go over rearwards.
The damage to the building appears minor, but a car parked below is certainly beyond repair.
