Three Terex Luffers for Select

UK based Select Plant Hire has taken three 32 tonne Terex CTL702-32 luffing jib tower cranes. The new model was developed in collaboration with Select.

The crane offers a maximum capacity of 32 tonnes with the jib set at 28 metres, while at its maximum jib length of 70 metres, it can handle loads of up to six tonnes. It includes several safety enhancements including the elimination of keeper plates and loose pins, optimised pinned connections, and a 1,500kg capacity maintenance derrick. The design also features meshed handrails and underfloor cable trays to reduce trip hazards.

The erection process has been simplified with the elimination of mobile counterweight requirements and new joint connections. The crane uses Terex's T-Torque system for improved luffing speeds and slewing control, while maintaining hoisting speeds with lower power consumption. The system includes built-in zoning, eliminating the need for additional anti-collision systems in single crane applications.

Select business team leader Clare Rodgers said: This machine represents long-term collaboration between Select and Terex. Designed with a strong emphasis on aerial safety and seamless installation, it will provide significant benefits to both our customers and operational teams.”

Terex tower crane product manager Angelo Cosmo added: “The more precise the control, the safer and smoother the operation, minimising downtime and maximising efficiency. We embedded this philosophy in the design and functionality of the crane to provide a more seamless experience for operators and crews alike.”
