A bigger MEC boom

California based aerial lift manufacturer MEC has released details of its new 135ft 135-RJ telescopic boom lift that it announced at the ARA show earlier this year.
The new boom - MEC's largest so far - features a four section telescopic boom topped with a rotating jib with 135 degrees of articulation and 120 degrees of rotation, providing a maximum working height of 41 metres and a maximum outreach of 24 metres.

Maximum platform capacity is 408kg at full height or at an outreach of 21.33 metres when the jib is restricted to 60 degrees rotation, while a capacity of 272kg is available from 21.3 metres to the maximum outreach of 24.4 metres, with an outreach of 12.2 metres with the full 120 degrees of jib rotation. A 2.3 metre by one metre triple entry work platform is standard.

Overall transport length is 11.9 metres with a stowed width of 2.5 metres, extending to 4.5 metres in work mode with swing out axles that can extend or retract without needing to drive/move the machine. The overall stowed height is 2.8 metres and total weight is 20,310kg.

Power comes from a Tier 4 Final Deutz diesel, with standard four wheel drive, foam filled rough terrain tyres, 360 degree continuous slew, and a time to full height of 120 seconds.
