Australian company Borger Crane Hire and Rigging Services has appointed Andrew Esquilant as chief executive – the first non-family member to fill the role.
He joins the company from Liebherr Australia, where he was general manager of the Mobile Crane and Crawler Division, of both Australia and New Zealand, until his departure at the end of last year after almost 14 years in the role. He began his crane career in 1996 as sales manager for tower crane specialist Morrow Equipment, leaving for Liebherr in 2011.

General manager Shawn Borger said: “Over the past 30 years Andrew has developed his career in the crane industry, working for two global companies he brings a wealth of experience in terms of the rental and manufacturing aspects of the crane industry. He brings significant expertise to the Borger Crane Hire and Rigging team.”
Technical manager Nathan Borger added: “With the Borger group of companies operating 11 depots across New South Wales and Queensland, our next steps will be to secure best practice customer service, explore new markets and industries, and embark on the next chapters of our business. Borger takes great pride in being a one stop supply solution, a vision inspired by our founders, Jon and Barbara Borger.”

Family owned and managed Borger Cranes & Rigging was established in 1980 by Jon and Barbara Borger and is based in Sydney, with a total of 11 locations mostly on the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Brisbane and Gympie. The crane fleet numbers several hundred units, including All Terrains, truck cranes, Franna pick & carry models, spider cranes and crawlers up to a number of 750 tonners including Liebherr LG 1750s.
