California based manufacturer MEC has shipped the first units of its new 66ft 66-RJ telescopic boom lift. The new model was displayed as a prototype at this year’s ARA Show in Las Vegas.
The new Kubota diesel powered model features a three section boom topped by a 1.9 metre jib with 135 degrees of articulation and 120 degrees of horizontal rotation, all of which provides a working height of 22.2 metres, with up to 17 metres of outreach with the 272kg unrestricted platform capacity or 15.2 metres with maximum platform capacity of 408kg.

The 66RJ has an overall width of 2.5 metres, an overall stowed length of 10 metres and an overall height of 2.8 metres, while the overall weight is 12,940kg.
Other features include four wheel multi-mode steering, four wheel drive, with locking differential axles, an oscillating axle with seven degrees of oscillation and 45 percent gradeability. The 2.3 metre wide platform has three entry points – one with a gate and two with drop bars along with 180 degrees of platform rotation.
120 degrees of jib rotation is standard
The new boom lifts is aimed at heavy duty construction work, including jobs such as glazing, options include a glazing package, an onboard generator driven welder, its Xtra-Deck which provides an additional 500mm of platform height, and its PPSS ultrasonic anti entrapment system.
