Hiab to merge crane lines

Hiab, the loader crane manufacturer has announced that it will merge its three crane product lines from January 2008 in order to improve the efficiency of its operations.

The merged Crane business will develop and produce truck mounted loader cranes, forestry cranes and recycling cranes from five facilities in Hudiksvall, Sweden, Meppel, the Netherlands, Zaragoza, Spain, Salo, Finland, and Chungbuk, Korea.

The merged organisation, which will employ 1 200 people, will be led by senior vice president Harri Ahola, the current head of Hiab Loader Cranes.

The products will continue to be sold under the Hiab, Loglift, and Jonsered brands but the change is expected to improve and strengthen the use of common resources for developing, producing, and marketing the crane products.
