Almac acquires fabricator

Italian tracked access specialist Almac has acquired Plas - a steel fabricator, metalworking and precision machining company based in Campagnola Emilia, north west of Modena and around 30km from the Almac plant in Viadana.

Plas was established in 1966 and now offers a wide range of sheet metal processing, metal fabrications, as well as tube bending and shaping. It has invested extensively over the years in technologically advanced machine tools and other metalworking equipment, including robotics.

The Almac announcement said: “This strategic operation marks a fundamental step in our expansion in the market and diversification of our production capability. The acquisition of Plas is not just an expansion of our offerings, but a strategic integration of competencies that will allow us to provide more advanced and customised solutions, better responding to the needs of a constantly evolving market.”

Almac chief executive Andrea Artoni added: “This acquisition will further enhance our ability to meet the requests of our current clients and to reach new market segments. We are committed to ensuring that the transition occurs with operational continuity, maintaining the high quality standards and customer service on which both companies have built their reputation. We are excited to explore the new opportunities that this partnership will bring and are convinced that the union of two such complementary realities represents a solid foundation to face the future challenges of the sector.”

The deal was supported by Wise Equity, which acquired a stake in Almac at the end of 2022 through the Wisequity V fund. The company said: “The group intends to continue to support Almac’s development path, both through organic growth, thanks to the launch of innovative products and the penetration of new geographies, as well as through strategic acquisitions.”
