UK based Falcon Tower Crane Services has acquired Guy Crane Hire in northern England and purchased a new facility near Manchester. The acquisitions amount a total investment of around £5 million.
Based north east of Burnley, towards Leeds, Guy Crane Hire is owned by Kevin and Joanne Guy and was incorporated in 2002, but Kevin Guy has been in the crane business for almost 30 years. Today its fleet includes self-erecting tower cranes, a few regular tower cranes, aluminium truck cranes and transport vehicles equipped with loader cranes, as well as telehandlers, and power generation equipment. The company is also the Vicario self-erecting tower crane dealer for the UK. Kevin Guy will remain on board under Falcon’s ownership for a short period to help ensure a smooth transition.

Falcon said: Kevin Guy has built a strong reputation for reliability and service, operating a diverse fleet of cranes, Falcon’s purchase his planned retirement while expanding Falcon’s fleet, customer base, and expertise in the Northwest. The addition also complements our recent diversification into haulage and power generation and newly found contract lifting services, creating new synergies across its operations.”
Kevin Guy added: “Since starting Guy Crane Hire over 20 years ago, I’ve had the privilege of growing the business and building long standing relationships with customers across the region. As I move towards retirement, it was important to me that the company’s assets and client base were placed with a business that can continue to support them on a larger scale. Falcon has the capability and resources to do just that, and I’m pleased to see the business become part of their wider operation. I would like to wish Falcon all the best going forward.”
Already working together
Falcon has also purchased of three acre plot of industrial land with a 2,800 square metre workshop in Miles Platting, on the east side of Manchester. It says “The facility will consolidate Falcon’s existing Manchester area sites in Birch, Swinton, Heywood, and Burnley into one centralised hub, housing: a fabrication and paint shop, alongside the power generation, haulage, and truck mounted cranes crane businesses, including aluminium cranes from Klaas. The new site will enable faster response times, increased capacity, and greater operational efficiency, directly benefiting customers in the region.”
