Pekkaniska goes Multitel

Finnish crane and access rental company Pekkaniska has signed an exclusive agreement with Multitel for the supply of platforms for a new truck mounted division it has set up.

The first batch of 3.5 tonne Multitel platforms has shipped from Italy, with a 27 metre MTE 270 EX mounted on an Iveco Daily 35-14 chassis among the first to arrive.

The unit has a 27 metre working height plus an outreach of 17 metres with 100kg in the platform, while it can take its maximum capacity of 250kg to an outreach of 12.3 metres. The new platforms have been ordered with a high specification, including Multitel’s MUSA system, which monitors outrigger positions, load in the platform and turret slew position and then automatically calculates the resulting working envelope.

It also incorporates a telematics remote communication connection.
The company says that the selection of Multitel as its exclusive supplier for the new division was the culmination of a search among several European manufacturers, looking not only for the right products, but also a partner that it felt comfortable with.

Distribution manager Mirko Rebuzzi said: “We wanted a partner that has done this for a long time and continues to innovate. What convinced us was not only the quality of the platforms but its straightforward, effective communication. Whenever we asked for something, we got real answers from the right people. Presenting the MTE 270 EX in our colours at Maxpo allowed us to visually reinforce that this is not just an equipment purchase—it’s part of our identity and service promise, We are proud to expand our offering for customers who already value the quality we deliver. The launch comes in response to long standing customer demand to broaden into this segment.”

Mirko Rebuzzi of Multitel Pagliero, added: “From the very first meeting, the Pekkaniska team showed professionalism, clarity and high standards about their needs. They were highly focused on quality and equally attentive to the long term support we could provide. Custom branded units like the MTE 270 EX highlight our collaborative approach — we tailor excellence, not just equipment.”

Vanta based Pekkaniska was established in the 1970s, by the late Pekka Niska. By 1983 it had become a leading crane rental business with national coverage and also worked in Russia. The company added aerial work platforms in the mid 1980s but not truck mounted lifts. As result Pekka’s son Janne Niska set up his own business – Janneniska, in 1996 to provide truck mounted lift rental, when his father fell in 2009 Janne managed both companies but sadly died in 2014 and the two companies separated again.

Janneniska still is still in operation, with a focus on smaller truck mounts, while co-operating with Jalo & Jallo for larger models. Pekkaniska’s move into truck mounted rental for the first time sort of ‘rounds the circle’ of this family story.
