Manitou UK has appointed Garth Bryson as its new managing director. He takes over from Mark Ormond, who left the company in June for Avtron Power Solutions after seven and a half years at the helm.
Bryson joined the company last week after six years with the Caterpillar dealer Finning UK, where he was general manager of the Energy and transport business, have previously been responsible for Engines and before that a specialist in its Marine Oil & Gas division.

Educated and based in South Africa he began his career in 1999 as a sales engineer with Deutz engines South Africa and was promoted to branch manager in 2002. In 2005 he moved to Cummins South Africa as a regional manager for its industrial business and the following year was promoted to director of for Engines.
Everything changed in 2007 when he was transferred to Cummins UK as general manager of its Industrial division. Over the next 10 years he moved up through the Cummins organisation to become director of UK & Ireland distribution. In mid-2014 he returned to South Africa, taking a job with industrial component supplier Entramarc, leaving after five and half years in the role to return to the UK and the job with Finning.
Manitou said: “Garth brings a wealth of international experience from Finning UK and Cummins, which will support our continued growth and customer focused approach across the UK and Ireland. His expertise includes business restructuring, process optimisation, and team leadership, as well as overseeing major contractual negotiations. He also brings in depth experience in direct sales to original equipment manufacturers and dealer network management across a wide range of sectors, including industrial, marine, oil & gas, electric power, rail, automotive, defence and mining.”

Manitou UK is an important part of the Manitou business in Europe with revenues of more than £230 million in 2023 and pre-tax profit of £10.4 million.
