Terex unveils new 300 tonner.

Terex Demag took the wraps off the new 300 tonne capacity, AC300/6 at its open day at Zweibrücken last week. Claimed to be an 'all-rounder' Terex Demag says it is the most powerful mobile crane in its class currently on the market.

The new 300 tonne capacity six axle AC300/6

The new six axle machine slots into the gap between the AC250-1 and the AC350. The unit has a 64 metre (209 ft) main boom and 125.7 m (412 ft) maximum length. It also has Superlift for increased lifting capacity with large system lengths.

Terex claims that this 'jack-of-all-trades' machine can be used for a wide range of lifting duties. In the 140 tonne to 220 tonne class, with a partial counterweight, it can be an alternative to medium and large 5-axle mobile cranes. At the top end, Terex claims that even 400 tonne jobs can be tackled.

Regardless of whether the AC300/6 works with the basic boom or with rigid or luffing extensions, the unit offers the longest system length of any 6-axle mobile crane.

There is an optional two-part, 3 metre (9.8 ft) long assembly jib with optional heavy duty head, which combined with the luffing jib allows for increased lifting capacities of up to 69 tonnes for short luffing jib lengths. During road travel, an 11.4 metre (37 ft) long folding jib, which has the the ability of being extended up to 20 metres (65 ft) and manually offset by 20 and 40 degrees, can be carried.

The AC300/6 has the well-proven, fully-automatic counterweight system from the AC250-1. The fully-hydraulic setup procedure can be carried out manually or automatically from the crane cab.

The maximum counterweight is 116.7 tonnes. No hydraulic / electrical lines need to be connected manually. 55.2 tonnes can be transported within the three metre vehicle width and 18.2 tonnes can be transported during road travel.

Total length of the AC300/6 is 16.44 meters making it the smallest 6-axle and most compact 300tonne mobile crane. Very small turning radius is achieved by means of its length and speed-dependent rear-axle steering. Its front overhang of less than 2 metres is another advantage.

With a 12 tonne axle load and 72 tonnes maximum permissible weight, the AC300/6 has 12 x 8 x 10 drive with 16.00R25 tyres, and hook block.
