Alp Lift brands reunited

Dutch material lift manufacturer Alp Lift has won the right to market its products under the Alp Lift brand in Germany, Austria, and a number of other markets where the name was registered by truck mounted crane and hoist manufacturer Böcker. The move follows an amicable and mutual agreement between the companies.

Alp Lift launched its first material lift range in 1986 and developed a strong following in the Benelux market, providing the incumbent Genie with some real competition. In 1987, Robert Böcker, the son of Albert Böcker, the founder of the Böcker crane and hoist business, decided to set up his own company - Robert Böcker GmbH, making a material lift and push around one person lifts. He also marketed his machines under the Alp Lift name and began cooperating quite happily with the Dutch company.

In 1990, Albert died, and Robert took over from him, effectively reuniting the two Böcker companies. In 2012, Böcker decided to use its Alp Lift trademark registrations in Germany and Austria to stop the Dutch manufacturer from using the name in those countries. Even though the two companies had “worked closely together on the development, production, and sale of the Alp Lift branded material lifts” for more than 20 years.

The Dutch company therefore adopted the name Groenlift in those markets, which it has used until now.
Speaking of the agreement, Alp Lift said: “What belongs together, comes together again” adding “This marks a natural step in bringing together years of shared expertise. In the past, Alp Lift and Böcker collaborated closely on the development and production of Alp Lift material lifts. After a long period of operating in separate markets, that expertise is now united once again under the single name: Alp Lift.”

“For customers and partners, this change means clarity, continuity, and reliability, with one recognisable brand for Alp material lifts across Europe, sold through our teams in Utrecht and Witten. Our service, maintenance, and spare parts organisation will also look after all Alp Lift branded material lifts – including those from Böcker.”

“We look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with Böcker customers and express our gratitude to Böcker Maschinenwerke for its trust and the shared history.”
Alp Lift has grown considerably in the past decade or so and has added an aerial lift distribution and rental business, and became the first Dingli dealer in Europe, more recently it has taken on the distribution of Zoomlion aerial lifts.
