Aichi to build US plant

Aichi the Japanese based powered access manufacturer has said that it plans to start construction on a new production facility in the USA next year.

This confirms the plans we reported on back in 2006 when one of Aichi's senior executives told a Japanese reporter about the company's plans during an interview.

The factory will produce models from the company’s range of self-propelled and truck-mounted aerial lifts. As part of the expansion the company will also expand its North American sales and support team.

Alan Dotts, general manager of Aichi USA told Lift and Access that Aichi plans to introduce 10 new models of aerial work platforms in North America in 2008 prior to building the new facility.

This will include the new wheeled telescopic boom lifts already announced, along with an articulating boom and its new electric battery powered scissor lifts.
