Ghanaian mining services provider Rocksure International has taken a new 130 tonne Liebherr LRT 1130-2.1 Rough Terrain crane.
The purchase is part of its strategy to expand its lifting capacity in order to further diversify its range of services. This is the first LRT 1130-2.1 to arrive in the country and follows an investment in two 90 tonne Liebherr LRT 1090-2.1 Rough Terrains last year.
The new crane – Rocksure’s third Liebherr RT – is delivered
The new crane features a seven section 60 metre main boom, which can be topped with a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with offsets of up to 40 degrees, along with a seven metre insert for a maximum tip height of around 88 metres. A 2.9 metre assembly jib can be stowed on the left side of the boom.
Other features include VarioBase variable outrigger set up, monitoring and automatic load chart selection for the actual base configuration. However, a key factor in Rocksure’s decision to go with an LRT 1130-2.1 was its pick & carry abilities. It says that this will help speed up workflows and boost efficiency. It will primarily be used by Rocksure’s existing mining partners in Ghana.
\(L-R\) Marius Kleck of Liebherr with Kwasi Osei Ofori of Rocksure and Morne Jute of Liebherr with the new crane) Chief executive Kwasi Osei Ofori said: “The cranes are extremely robust and manoeuvrable. Therefore, the move to a model with a higher lifting capacity was the logical next step. The LRT 1130-2.1 is the largest Liebherr rough terrain crane in Ghana and a clear statement of our growth ambitions. The increased capacity of our fleet also opens up additional business opportunities for us.”
“Liebherr’s strong regional presence was another decisive factor in the purchase of the new LRT 1130-2.1. We work closely with Liebherr-Ghana, which provides comprehensive on-site support and services. We place great emphasis on local value creation and adherence to strict health, safety and environmental standards.”
Rocksure International is locally owned and managed and was established 16 years ago, its services include Load & Haul, Drill & Blast, and Equipment Rental, catering to mining sites in both Ghana and internationally. It runs as a fleet of around 150 units of heavy equipment, we possess the necessary resources for efficient and reliable operations.
