Oz safety Alert
The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) and the CFMEU, Australia’s largest construction Union, have issued a safety alert to owners of Liebherr LTM1070 and LTM1080/1 All Terrain cranes after a number of them have caught Fire
.
Liebherr is a member of the CICA as are most crane manufacturers and a good number of crane rental companies, distributors and suppliers.
The warning simply recommends that owners of Liebherr LTM1070 and LTM1080 contact Liebherr Australia to arrange for an inspection.
The warning follows a number of incidents over the past two years in which LTM1070, all of which were imported second hand, and a more recent LTM1080/1 have caught fire while traveling on the road. No one has been injured in the fires and the causes are apparently not all the same.

“SAFETY ALERT
Attention all Liebherr All Terrain Crane Owners
It has come to our attention that in the past couple of years several
Liebherr all terrain mobile cranes have caught fire and burnt during
road travel.
The models affected have been Liebherr LTM 1070 models, which
were brought into Australia second hand and not through the
Liebherr distribution channel, and an LTM 1080/1 supplied new.
Nobody has been injured and there are several versions of the cause
of the fires, so it is recommended that owners of these cranes contact Liebherr Australia to have an inspection carried out in order to reduce the possibility of your crane having a similar occurrence.
For further information please contact Liebherr on 1300 790 131.
