Lavendon restructures in Germany

Just over a year after acquiring Gardemann the Lavendon group is merging its German businesses and brands. Gardemann Arbeitsbühnen and Zooom Deutschland will be merged under the Gardemann name.

The company plans to emphasise the merger giving its identity a refresher including a new logo which is said to resemble both a boom with basket and a tick (check) symbol. The intention is to make Gardemann recognisable as integral part of the Lavendon Group.

The headquarters, administration, customer service, quotation and order processing, logistics and technical hotline for Lavendon Germany will be based at the Gardemann offices in Alpen, in the Niederrhein region of Germany.

Maarten Mijnlieff, managing director of the combined business said: “The company will focus on a ‘one brand strategy’ and will thus maintain the name Gardemann. Due to its history, Gardemann has a much higher brand awareness than Zooom.”

The merged and restructured business boasts 43 depots and over 450 employees with a fleet of over 4500 platforms.

Gardemann bought its first aerial lift, a 13 metre truck mount, back in 1968 and was one of the pioneers on the German access rental market. Zooom is a relative newcomer dating back to the late 1990’s when Lavendon merged its Pro-lift business with Furg which it had acquired a year earlier and adopted the Lavendon all blue colour scheme. The Zooom is also used by Lavendon in France and Spain, although this may well change with the DK Rental acquisition.
