Runaway Crane

A run-away Rough Terrain crane in downtown Tacoma, Washington smashed into power line poles, causing havoc on Friday..

According to reports, the crane lost power and brakes at around 13:00, causing it to roll away down the hill at South 15th Street, near the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center.

The operator jumped clear of the crane, which stayed upright, but it hit several trees and power lines as well as side swiping a number of cars..

The crane came to rest on a concrete barrier.

The crane, owned by Tacoma based Mountain Construction, came to rest on the Interstate 705 off ramp to South 15th Street. Crews closed the off ramp as the incident was investigated and cleaned up.
