McNally's bridges the gap for Irish Rail

Ireland-based McNally’s Crane Hire recently employed its TC 3300 to lift a rail bridge into place for Irish Rail at Dunleer, County Louth. The TC 3300, with a manufacturer’s rating of 500 tonnes capacity, was rigged with 54 metres of main boom, a 30 metre superlift backmast, 149 tonnes of standard ballast and 200 tonnes of ballast on the superlift tray to lift the bridge which weighed in excess 200 tonnes.The bridge was placed at a radius of 22 metres.

“The bridge itself was very difficult to sling,” said McNally’s Shane Gorry. “It was a rhombus shape and had to be slung from six points. We spent a lot of time planning this job and our site surveyors worked very closely with our CAD department to work out the correct sling lengths. It was pretty complicated but we were delighted that it worked out very well."
