New Terex Cranes facility officially open

Terex Cranes opened its new, puropose-built UK facility in Long Crendon, near Thame last Friday in style. About 150 invited guests – including a who’s who of the major crane rental businesses in the UK – attended the opening ceremony before attending an evening dinner at the Heritage Motor Museum which houses the world’s largest collection of historic British cars at Gayton near Banbury.

On the day, the new facility was filled with an impressive array of Terex equipment including Demag, PPM, Bendini and Comedil cranes, as well as Genie access platforms.

A selection of equipment on show

“This four acre facility took four years to find and includes 1,300 sq metres of workshop and 800 sq metres of office space,” said Terex Cranes UK managing director Barry Barnes. “About 50 employees are currently based here looking after the sales, after sales and accounts for Terex mobile and crawler cranes.”

"Our improved service, parts storage, delivery, and used and refurbished crane display areas will make it easier to do business with Terex Cranes,” he said. ”A great deal of effort went into choosing the Long Crendon location which features easy access to the Motorway, major roads and airports.”

A fanfare before the official opening

The new site combines its London office with its workshops and storage areas previously located at Upper Hayford, Oxfordshire and has been operational since April.

Several awards were made to key customers including Ainscough Crane Hire, Weldex, ALC – which is co-ordinating the modernisation of the equipment used by the British Army including 65 Terex cranes – William O’Brien, Sparrow Crane Hire and King Lifting. Awards were also given to Maurice Teixeira head of parts and service at PPM and Demag engineer Helmut Meyer.

A good selection of customers' machines were at the opening ceremony

Newly appointed vice president and managing director of Terex Demag, Doug Friesen was also at the opening. Friesen, who will be settled into his new role in Zweibrücken, Germany in a few weeks, will be lookingvery closely at improving the manufacturing processes in an effort to improve efficiency and production output.
