Tower crane topples in Spain

A tower crane toppled over in the Calle Llibertat in Manresa near Barcelona, Spain yesterday causing serious damage to a house, when the cranes jib crashed through the roof.

The crane's jib crashed through the roof opposite

A couple in their seventies lived in the house managed to escape serious injury although one of them suffered minor leg injuries. The crane operator suffered the worst injuries, but they are apparently not life threatening.

The crane was working on the opposite side of the street at the time, there was no clear explanation of what caused it to fall, either a lower section gave way or the foundation failed.
