A tight squeeze

Hampshire, UK based cranes2u.com has added a 2.82 tonne Maeda MC285 to its new fleet of spider cranes. One of the first jobs for the 750mm wide crane made maximum use of its slender dimensions.

The job was to lift a large glass panel into the skylight of a single storey extension at the rear of a house in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The only way in was through the house itself. The MC285 was specifically chosen for its ability to squeak through the narrow – 765 mm wide - single door at the rear of the Victorian terraced house.

Now that is a tight squeeze! the Maeda MC285 crane gets through

A set of glazier suction pads were added to the crane allowing it to place the glass panel precisely into place.

Charlie Preston, technical sales engineer for cranes2u.com said: “It was snug, to say the least, but the adaptability of the MC285 meant that we were able to offer a cost-effective solution. We were in and out within the day and there was no need for the client to hire a more expensive larger crane or for road closures to be instigated.”
