Another outrigger tip

A crane tipped over and crashed onto a house in southwest Calgary, Canada, yesterday after its outriggers sank into soft ground

The crane was lifting a hot tub into the rear of the home when one of the outriggers, which was extended onto the front lawn of the house, sank causing the crane to tip. Its boom landed on the house damaging it to the point where it has been declared uninhabitable.

Local fire officials said that the ground was very soft and insufficient cribbing had been set under the outriggers and as a result the ground simply could not support the weight of the crane.

Two further cranes were brought in to recover the original crane, thankfully no one was injured in the incident
