Crane tips in Singapore

A truck crane tipped over at the site of a new indoor sports hall being built at Kent Ridge Secondary School on West Coast Road, Singapore, earlier today.

The overturned crane

No one was hurt in the accident, the cause of which is not clear, although overloading has to be top of the list of causes, the four axle truck crane was properly set up with appropriately sized outrigger mats but tipped over the rear, probably as the radius was increased.

This is the fifth significant crane accident in Singapore this year.
