Big 5-PMV roundup

This year the organisers of Big 5 and PMV brought the building materials and the construction equipment back together again at the World Trade Centre in Dubai, (last year they were separated by a 20 minute shuttle bus ride).

Sadly the move still saw an amazingly busy Big 5 and depressingly quiet PMV section, even though the two locations were just across the road form each other.

Two days into the show, the organising team for PMV laid a red carpet stretching between the two buildings and crossing the four lane road. While the effort was appreciated it did not seem to make an immediate improvement.

We have already covered several announcements and developments at the show, here are one or two final points or observations.

Wolffkran Arabia, the joint venture between Kanoo and Wolffkran, established less than two years ago, has grown well beyond its initial forecasts, the company has had a fully working scale model of one of its luffing tower crane on its stand. The highly detailed model was built by one of the factory’s apprentices. It is operated from a full size operator’s seat and controllers. Visitors to the stand were encouraged to operate the crane and get a feel for the controls.
