Release of the Hemel Two

The two aerial lifts stranded on a roundabout in Hemel Hempstead, UK, have been liberated. We understand that the owner, rental company Elevation decided to take the situation into its own hands and with the help of the machines manufacturer, Nifty Lift pulled the machines out during the early hours of this morning.

A spokesman for Elavation said: “In spite of Dacorum Borough Councils efforts to grow the machines into the roundabout they are now Free! Special mention must be made to Gareth of Niftylift who attended site at 3am, following an emergency during the machine recovery process. His efforts meant that an end could be brought to the sorry saga.”

Dacorum Borough Council rented the machines on a regular rental contract moved them onto a busy main road roundabout and then its employees not only managed to get the lifts stuck in the mud, but bogged them down to the axles and then abandoned them refusing to be involved in any recovery, which technically required a road closure for which eight weeks notice is required.
