Woodward is currently out of action following a skiing accident, but has a wide range of interests that will soak up his time. Moving forward Douglas takes over the management of the all the UK depots while Richard Miller, managing director of Lavendon’s Panther business will be responsible for sales and marketing at Lavendon UK.

Both men will continue to report to Andy Wright, chief executive of Lavendon UK. Lavendon is also consulting its employees on future restructuring plans in preparation for a further tightening in the market.

Vertikal Comment

It is exactly a year since Lavendon purchased The Platform Company and next month The Platform Company shareholders receive their first follow up stage payment. Woodward never intended to stay with Lavendon for the long term, his partner Lee Perry departed around six months ago.

With times getting tough it makes sense to run with a slimmer top management team and Woodward would have been one of the first to have recognised the fact and been ready to move on having played a significant role in the successful absorption of the Platform Company into the Lavendon group which is now complete.
