New orders for Konecranes UK

Konecranes UK has secured three power plant orders, two in the Middle East and one in Ireland.

The first is for the gas powered power station in Terga, Algeria with six turbine hall cranes. The cranes have been ordered by Orascom Construction, Cairo, for Alstom which has a 20 year maintenance contract for the power plant. The order valued at £1.95 million will be delivered in October 2009.

The second Middle East contract is from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the supply and installation of a 100t/40tonne SM crane to the Abu Qir power station in Egypt which is owned by the West Delta Electrical Production Company. The crane, worth £380,000 will be delivered in May 2010.

The third order is for the Bord Gáis Whitegate Independent Power Plant project, currently under construction adjacent to the ConocoPhillips refinery at Whitegate, Midleton, Co. Cork. The commercial operation of the power plant is expected to commence in 2010.

Konecranes has also won an order to modernise two cranes at the Burntisland Fabrications (Bifab) Methil site. The contract worth £167,000 involves the installation of Konecranes DynAHoist variable speed control and a full inspection of the two cranes and a rail survey. The work will be carried out in May.
