Outrigger set-up causes tip-over

A boom truck blocked a busy Toronto street on Tuesday after its outriggers sank into soft ground, causing it to topple.

Amazingly no cars were hit on this busy street

Police say that the crane was lifting an elevator box on a construction site when the soil beneath it gave way, “possibly weakened by days of heavy rain”. The boom dropped across Lake Shore Boulevard West after hitting several power lines and knocking out power to the lamposts but not the traffic lights.

Amazingly no one was hurt in the accident and damage was restricted to the boom truck, fences and power lines.
